 Hi, I’m Nell Phoenix, Performance Storyteller www.nellphoenix.co.uk
I’ve been Patron of Reading at Belmont Juniors for a year now. It worried me at first that I was not the ‘famous published writer’ that they were expecting – but ‘world-wide touring storyteller’ seemed to go down well.  I knew anyway that I could share some fabulous stories and help to cultivate interest and excitement about all sorts of reading.

National Patron of Reading Conference September 17th 2016

The Patron of Reading scheme’s national conference will take place in Manchester on September 17th 2016 and will include a substantial input from Patron of Reading: Haringey Chapter. Book your tickets here!

We are delighted that we have been asked to contribute again. Our workshop and presentations will be delivered by:

  • Ian Coles (Big Green Bookshop Education and Haringey Chapter coordinator)
  • S.F. Said (Patron of Reading at Fortismere School and winner of the 2016 Haringey Children’s Book Award)
  • Gill Ward (Librarian at Fortismere and champion of Patrons of Reading in Haringey and everywhere)

Please join us if you can! The national POR conference is a great opportunity to discover how the scheme is working across the UK and to share ideas with others who are passionate about promoting reading for pleasure. We also hope to inspire other local chapters by sharing our achievements in our first year of the Haringey Chapter.
