This year we are widening the focus of our spotlight posts to look beyond the work of Patron of Reading: Haringey Chapter and to examine some of the other literacy-supporting initiatives and organisations in our amazing borough.
Haringey Literature Live is based at the Chocolate Factory in Wood Green and puts on high-quality literary events and activities throughout the year for the people of Haringey and beyond. For adults HLL runs creative writing courses all year round and a reading group. HLL also delivers some activities in schools: a poet in Heartlands High School (Paul Lyalls, a one year residency – this is culminating in 2 publications and an exhibition); support for the Haringey Children’s Book Award (2016 and 2017) by sponsoring writing workshops on the morning of the Award Ceremony. HLL also arranges for a group of secondary school students to come and do some writing at the N22 Open Studios each year – and you can read some of their work on the HLL website here.
